  Vishay Intertechnology's Inductors Division Earns ISO 13485:2003 Certification for Yankton, S.D., Facility

Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) today announced that the company's Inductors Division has earned the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 13485:2003 certification for its Yankton, S.D., facility. Vishay's ISO 13485:2003 registration audit was conducted by UL DQS Inc., and the site was certified for the "design, development, and manufacture of inductors, transformers, and antennas for use in medical devices in accordance with customer requirements."

  Semicon industry cuts inventory

According to IHS Inc., stockpiles from semiconductor suppliers fell in Q3, ending inventory accumulation for the last consecutive seven quarters. The industry went into self-correction mode in order to reduce oversupply, bringing the stockpiles Q3 at 81 days, down 2.5 percent from 83 days in Q2, as calculated by the Days of Inventory (DO I) measure.   Smart meters to boost IC sales

IHS Inc. has released the details of its research that describes a vibrant forecast for ICs used in smart meters. According to the market intelligence firm, power utilities are seen to adopt smart electricity meters due to their capacity to improve electrical grids efficiency and to save energy. As such, global smart meter shipments will top 62 million units in 2016, up from 20.5 million this year. [EDN Asia]
